ALLEGHENY COUNTY CAMP CADET
Is a youth camp that was established in 2004. Camp is open to both boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 14. The camp is designed to bring a better understanding of law enforcement and other community agencies to the youth who live in Allegheny County. The camp is a week long experience where the cadets spend the entire week at Camp Guyasuta, which is located in Sharpsburg, just outside of the City of Pittsburgh.
While at the camp, the cadets will experience numerous activities and events which are geared toward building self esteem, self discipline, and new friendships.
During the week some of the activities include a mock crime scene and a mock trial, demonstrations by the SWAT/SERT units, as well as the Bomb Squad. Each morning will start with physical training and a morning run. The cadets will also be required to learn Military Courtesy.
In the evenings time will be allotted for activities such as softball, basketball and volleyball competition.
The week will begin on Sunday, July 19th and will conclude with a graduation ceremony on Saturday, July 25, 2009. Interested boys and girls must submit their application no later than April 15, 2009. Each applicant will be contacted via phone to schedule an interview. A parent/guardian needs to be present for the interview
The camp is funded solely by contributions. The Allegheny County Camp Cadet is a nonprofit organization and there is no cost to the cadets.
The camp will be held at Camp Guyasuta, 300 23rd Street Extension, Pittsburgh, PA 15215. If you have any questions contact:
