Prevention Video of the Month Program

Prevention Video of the Month Program

Each month, the Alliance will send participating schools and organizations an email message with a prevention video title, description and link for sending to the organization's e-mail group and/or posting on the organization's web site. These videos are streamed over the Internet. No username and password is required.

MAC Users: You will need to download Flip4Mac (free) from Microsoft.com. Safari  has known problems running .wmv presentations. However, Firefox, with a Silverlight free download, runs fine on a Mac.

We produced the "Listen" video to mobilize parents and community members to address the real dangers and threats of drugs in our region. It is the first in a series of videos. It has been viewed by thousands. It is appropriate for grade 5 to adult viewing. Talking points are available to download.

Truth & Choices: Shane's Story (click here)

 

The second prevention video in this series (14 minutes) is an Emmy-nominated program produced by the Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General.  It is appropriate for Grade 6 to Adult viewing.  The video introduces students and parents to Shane, an average kid from a suburban PA school who shares his true story of drug addiction.  He shares his emotional journey from prison and we see the devastating effects of drug addiction through the eyes of his family, law enforcement and medical professionals. This sixth prevention video in our series, "Signs of Trouble" is a must see for parents.  If you suspect your child may be using drugs, would you know what to look for?

Do you sometimes hesitate to ask questions or monitor your child for fear of smothering him? Do you suspect that your teen is hanging around the wrong crowd or could potentially be engaging in some risky behaviors?
