The concept of the Northern Area Alliance Against Highly Addictive Drugs was formally introduced on October 17, 2002 at a joint meeting of school and community leaders representing twelve southwestern Pennsylvania school districts. This effort was in part due to the tragic death of a young girl from a cocaine overdose. This clearly served as a wake-up call that highly addictive drugs are a serious threat in our region. The Alliance has now expanded to numerous other school districts.
Parent Alert – New Dangerous Synthetic Drugs
New synthetic drugs are now being marketed in Pennsylvania. A new product named, “Jewelry Cleaner” (synthetic cocaine) is on the shelves of head shops and some convenience stores. It comes as a power in a vile. Two that we know of are called “Eight Ballz” and “Cosmic Blast.” There are probably others. These are very dangerous chemicals and can cause hallucinations and body temperature increases up to 108 degrees. (read more)
